Honesdale High School actors will fly to new heights with this year's musical, "The Wizard of Oz." and we need your help with your special donations!

Several colorful costumes and props are part of the production, and the audience will watch Dorothy and her companions leap, jump and soar across the stage as they go on their journey to the see the Wizard of Oz.

Friends of Honesdale Performing Arts is fundraising to bring a new technical special effect of flying to our Honesdale High School musical production of “The Wizard of Oz”. Certain cast members will be hoisted up in the air to match scenes from the movie. Dorothy, the Wicked Witch, monkeys and crows will be in the air during some point during the show. 

Executive Director, Scott D. Miller and Technical Director, Shawn Garing are working with ZFX Flying Effects, which will train the cast in flying. ZFX has provided flying effects around the world, including for six different installations of "Wicked."

Senior Danielle Gager can't wait to put a check mark next to the "Are you willing to fly?" question when she will be completing her audition form.  She is so excited, she didn't care which part she gets as long as she got to be up in the air.

"This is such a rare thing to do (during a show), so I wanted to be a part of it," said Gager, who hope to be in the show this year. "I'm so excited with the possibility of experiencing it and now I get to say I could fly."
